Wii U's Poor Battery Life, Kinect Approaches Sales of Xbox, Official PlayStation Magazine Becoming Extinct - Nick's Gaming View Episode #99

Nick's Gaming View Episode #99

Coming up today on Nick’s Gaming View, Wii U’s GamePad suffers from poor battery life, Microsoft’s Kinect sells more than 80% of the entire market share of the original Xbox, and the Official PlayStation Magazine to officially become extinct, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. With the launch of Wii U just around the corner, millions of gamers are eagerly anticipating their pre-order pickup while others are planning how long they will wait in line to secure the latest video game console day one. Featuring a solid launch lineup and the typical Nintendo hype, there is no debating the fact that the Wii U will be next to impossible to pick up during the ongoing holiday season, but with many units reaching members of the press, there seems to be a major concern. Due to the large screen implemented within Nintendo’s new GamePad controller, battery life seems to perform poorly weighing in at just 3-5 hours of gameplay time with a recharge length of 2.5 hours. With most wireless gaming controllers on the market today accomplishing at least double this time, you would think Nintendo would accommodate for their hardcore audience accustomed to marathon gaming sessions.

Continuing on video game hardware, Microsoft’s Kinect has surpassed 20 million units sold creeping closer to the just under 25 million original Xboxes moved. Selling more than 80% of the total market share of the original Xbox, Microsoft’s incredible marketing push and software support has granted the Kinect exceptional success that many members of the media, such as myself, could have never imagined considering its price and concept. With the numbers growing at such a rapid pace and the ongoing holiday season in full effect, the day Microsoft’s Kinect surpasses the sales of the original Xbox is approaching.

Wrapping up today’s episode of Nick’s Gaming View, less than three months after the death of Nintendo Power, the Official PlayStation Magazine is following suit as Future US has released a statement confirming the extinction of the PlayStation-exclusive magazine. With the Holiday 2012 issue slated to be the last issue, the death of print media is once again affirmed, at least within the video game industry. While an audience still remains for physical news deliveries, the fact that information can be distributed more quickly, efficient, and at a lower cost via the Internet, no sense lies within the print media business.

I heard that wii has now the capacity of a computer. It can function as a computer. Is that true? I want to learn more about it. I will try using it to print something using my brother ink and toner. I hope everything goes well and if it does then this is awesome.
