Solution To Home 1.3 Freezing

E-mail Print PDF

PlayStation Home

Were you one of the many PS3 owners who were anxious to try out the 1.3 update for Home, which just released, to have it freeze on you every time? Locust_Star, one of the Home Managers, has just informed us all how we can get around this.

"If you're having difficulties logging into Home, please delete and reinstall. If, after trying this, you still cannot log in, please post on the Support forum. We'll be watching that forum all day to identify any log-in issues associated with the 1.3 client update.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding."

There you have it folks. If you want to be one of the first to experience Home 1.3, head to the Home icon on the XMB, press triangle and delete. Once that is done, launch Home and follow the instructions.

It's Not 3GB
written by Kane, October 01, 2009
It's not 3GB... It says that because that is how much space is reserved for the Home application...

Yea it works.

Yea, deleting and redownloading works like a charm. And yea, as someone already said, the size of Home is only how much HDD space it has reserved for caching data. The actual Home download size is only like 68 Mbs. Then the new update is 48 Mbs. They're pretty small files.

I am happy to report that I haven't had a problem with HOME in a really long time. I also haven't used it in about six months.

But won't deleting HOME delete all my settings?
written by Johnno, October 02, 2009
Like won't all my acquired items, trophies, apartment arrangments and stuff get deleted too? Wouldn't it be better to wait for a patch?

Deleting and reinstalling the Home application worked for some, but not everyone. Not for me either. My system kept freezing at start-up while loading my Summer House. Once the Summer House progress bar was full, my system would freeze and I'd have to do a hard reboot.

I read on http://www.us.playstation.com forums that many others who got stuck loading personal spaces were able to get in by backing up and deleting that personal space's Save Data Utility. After deleting that, I was able to log in. You can reinstall that space's Save Data Utility and visit it afterwards, but do NOT quit Home from ANY personal space, or you'll have to do it again.

That goes for all NA Home users: For the time being, do NOT quit Home from ANY personal space!

Don't worry, deleting Playstation Home won't erase your items, clothing, or character!

I just now deleted and re-installed Playstation Home, and none of my memory was deleted! smilies/cheesy.gif
If Playstation Home isn't working for you and you're afraid to delete it, then worry no more. LOL
So in response to Akash's comment - No, you will not lose any of your items or property.
Re-installing worked for me, and I hope it works for you!
Hope I could help! smilies/grin.gif
