After reading through a couple press releases, I found something very interesting in the PlayStation Plus press release. At the bottom of this press release it says:
"PlayStation users can purchase PlayStation Plus membership through PlayStation Store on PS3 only. Users need to install PS3 system software version 3.40, which will be released on June 22nd, to enjoy PlayStation Plus."
So it looks like PS3 owners will be receiving a new PS3 firmware update June 22nd. It would also make sense that this would be the update which would include cross-game chat.
On Sony's official Netherlands website, this is written:
"Cross-game Voice Chat: invite your friends to chat online no matter what game you're all playing, even if they aren't members of PlayStation Plus."
UPDATE: It seems as if Sony has removed this. I personally think Sony did this on purpose just to get the news out there. I thought it was weird when it was the only English part of the page. Read more for picture proof for all of the doubters out there.

What a wonderful post! this is my first time i visit here. I found so many interesting stuff in your blog especially its discussion.I'd cheap silver jewelry like to recommend something to you, you'll like it.I find my favoraite shop.
@Nick McCandless
I wish you would quit using this crappy Joomla software. Yeah, I know it's all the rage with it's anti-Wordpress establishment attitude. But there is a reason that Wordpress dominates the blog scene. The comment editing features are CRAP in Joomla. I feel like I am using Edlin when trying to make my points in the comment section.
@Sony Troll
Why is this Nick McCandless dude PS3 trolling on an XBOX 360 website? Go find a PS3 site and wave your Sony flag over there......
I could be wrong here. But I believe that he actually owns this website. In other words, it is his party. So if you don't like it, perhaps you should leave.
@Nick McCandless
Sorry if I came off sounding harsh. I am not trying to be a pain, but I just take issue with all the websites out there grabbing every rumor/hoax/fake/whatever and the cross-linking each other reporting something as the truth, when it cannot be verified. I don't want TGA to become such a site. I would like to contribute even more to the website. But not if it is going to become the National Enquirer of console gaming. If that is the case, then please delete my account now.

@Nick McCandless
Trust me, you will NOT convince me to believe you concerning this obvious hoax. I am still amazed that your common sense and logic did not kick in and warn you that this was a hoax/fake/hoax. The single bullet of English text amongst the entire rest of the Dutch text. It may as well as been written in red crayon with poor spelling. It just screams fake:

@kesy420
Why do you assume that cross game chat will be part of the free PSN? That is wishful thinking on everyone's part. If everyone says it enough and assumes that it's true, then it must be, right? Wrong. Cross game chat (CGC) will part of the PSN+ when CGC is released. Don't blame me for saying it, I am just the messenger telling everyone what they don't want to hear or believe. But deep down, you know it's true, so get over it. Sony has NEVER promised cross game chat at all, much less it being part of the free online service. You heard them say on stage that everything you have TODAY will remain free as part of the basic PSN service. Do you have cross game chat today? No. Do you not think that this would be a great feature for the PSN+ that would almost force users to pay for the service? Makes perfect business sense. Keep all the high end online functionality for the paying customers. Microsoft does the same thing quite successfully and I am sure that Sony has not ignored that fact when deciding the frameset for their new PSN+.
Please someone show me one link from an official Sony website (not some crap site in uberzikistan) that even mentions cross game chat, much less it being part of the free PSN. You can't.
@Nick McCandless
So .... you were just out perusing through Netherlands websites, that you cannot read because you don't speak Dutch, and you just happened to run across this? Even more amazing is how the single line of English text amongst the entire article in Dutch text didn't seem to register as a hoax to you.
Does anyone think for one second that if Sony had cross game chat available for PSN+ that they would not have announced it yesterday during their E3 presentation? Seriously....
thanks i was wondering about that and it seems like it would be correct since they managed to put in game music in every game so i can see that they will put that in there and it makes sense that they didnt include it in the press confference since the confernece focused on the + network and that wouldnt be in it
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Meaning that before this gets pulled Sony intended x-game chat to be paid for.
However If you look here:
http://uk.playstation.com/p...
The feature isn't listed.
Most likely indicating they intend to release it free for all.
The Examiner site should update with this new info before everybody jumps to conclusions.
There is NOT parity between the two Sony sites.
http://uk.playstation.com/p...
http://nl.playstation.com/p...
So one is WRONG.
LETS WAIT FOR CLARIFICATION FROM SONY!
