Earlier this week, an image of the European Resistance 3 PS3 bundle leaked to the internet with a new service by the name of “PSN Pass” featured on the product’s box. At the time, no one knew exactly what this new “service” was, but just a day after the image was released, Sony revealed their new program informed everyone that they would be joining the fight against the sales of used games starting with Resistance 3 later this year. They would do so through the use of single-use registration codes similar to what Electronic Arts has done for over a year. Now that it is official, many PS3 owners have went on to complain and cause an outrage over the new program. Read more to see what Insomniac Games, developer of the Resistance franchise, had to say.
James Stevenson, Senior Community and Marketing Manager at Insomniac’s development studio noticed fans of the franchise voicing their negative opinions regarding PSN Pass on Insomniac Games? community forum and twitter causing him to release a statement that needed to be released.
“If you buy R3 new, nothing will change and the PSN pass is free inside the box.
There is no “monthly fee”
more specifics when I can share”
Insomniac Games then went on to say the following on their official Twitter after hearing complaints from the plethora of Resistance followers.
“Not buying Resistance 3 hurts Insomniac more than Sony. Will you not buy any future Sony games?”
I cannot say I disagree with Insomniac Games. They are simply defending their investment and making sure they recover any losses due to used game sales. Want to hear my full opinion on this topic?
