On September 17th, Sony released PlayStation Move to the market anticipating an impact that would expand their fanbase and would compete with Microsoft’s yet-to-release gaming hardware, Kinect. With both products off to a great start and each company promising continued support of their latest gaming peripheral, I feel it is safe to say PlayStation Move and Kinect are here to stay, but for how long? While asking Microsoft this question, I received the following statement from one of Microsoft’s Spokespersons.
We believe controller-free experiences are the future of gaming and entertainment. We continue to focus on Kinect and Xbox LIVE, which combined will transform how you connect with your friends, family and entertainment.
Anyone who has followed Kevin Butler’s series of PlayStation Move commercials would receive the opposite concept. With Sony marketing the PlayStation Move’s integration of buttons as something essential to one’s gaming experience, you are left with two competing ideas. Which do you feel offers gamer’s the better experience and which will survive the longest? Go off in the comment section!
