Just think about it like this, the PSN store will carry over to the next console just like Live has for the Xbox so people will be keep all their stuff from the last 3 gens for their ps4. it just makes more sense to me, plus they are sticking with this 10 year cycle so they have to have something up their sleeve for the next 7 years lol. I doubt they saved a ton of money on it but only they know. Still this is one of those things that people complain about that Sony needs to fix.
