With 2015 now in the rear view mirror, here are the ten games that I’m excited for in 2016. This list is in no particular order.
Horizon: Zero Dawn – Horizon: Zero Dawn really impressed me at E3. The world looks beautiful, the gameplay fast and fluid, and the story looks to be intriguing. As one of Sony’s biggest titles this year, it’ll definitely be a day one purchase for me.
Doom – The original Doom was the very first first-person shooter that I ever played. I’m psyched to, once again, battle the minions of hell with some ridiculous weaponry. While maybe not a day one buy, I’ll be buying and appreciating Doom just following its launch.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – There really isn’t much to be said about Uncharted 4 that hasn’t already been said; it is Uncharted after all. Naughty Dog has yet to make a bad Uncharted game and A Thief’s End will be no different. As far as games go, I just might be most excited for this one.
Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright/Conquest – Fire Emblem is easily one of my favorite Nintendo franchises, so it should be no surprise that the latest iteration is heavily anticipated. Unlike previous titles, however, the latest Fire Emblem comes in two different games: Birthright and Conquest. Each game contains a different story, which just builds up the anticipation, for both, even further. These two will absolutely be a day one buy for me.
Street Fighter V – It’s no surprise that I’m excited for Street Fighter V. We here at TGA are huge fans of fighting games after all. From what I played at E3 2015, SFV looks to be much faster than IV and plays much more like Street Fighter 3. I’m more excited for SFV than I’ve been for a fighting game since… Well, since Street Fighter IV.
Far Cry Primal – I am a huge fan of the Far Cry series, so I’m very excited for Far Cry Primal. I’m also excited for where they’re taking the latest game in the franchise. Can you think of a first-person shooter that takes place when man fought with spears and saber tooth tigers roamed the arth? Yeah, me neither…
Bravely Second: End Layer – Bravely Default was an excellent game and a fantastic return to Square Enix’s roots. This is why I’m so excited for it’s sequel, Bravely Second. I’m a huge fan of Japanese Role Playing Games and am greatly looking forward to popping this into my 3DS and playing the hell out of it!
No Man’s Sky – Do you like sci-fi games? Maybe exploration games? Well lucky for you, No Man’s Sky has both of these things and then some. Every video I see from No Man’s Sky makes me more and more excited for this game’s launch. I’m greatly looking forward to exploring as much of No Man’s Sky’s infinite universe as I can!
The Last Guardian – For a while, I had totally given up on Team Ico’s latest title. That was until Sony shared an amazing new trailer at E3. The game looks phenomenal and just might be my most anticipated game following Uncharted. The graphics, gameplay, and two characters shown are looking to blow the gaming world away. I’m absolutely looking forward to this one!
Total War: Warhammer – I’m the biggest fan of all of the Total War games. I’ve played each of the titles after the original Rome considerably. While playing these games, I’ve often thought about how amazing it would be if the fine folks at Creative Assembly made a fantasy Total War game. My dream has finally come to fruition as it looks like Total War: Warhammer will be everything I’ve ever hoped for. Look forward (or not) to me talking about this game a lot when it launches this year!
