Before I listen to this episode, I would like to add that firmware 2.80 did do something. Now when I plug in my guitar, it sets it to controller slot 7 instead 1! It gets really annoying having to reconfigure it each time I play guitar hero.

I have cable. The reason for the choppy playback has nothing to do with mine or anyone else's internet connection. The problem was that not everyone's activation level was setup correctly, so sometimes when there voice when low, it stopped picking up sounds causing it to stop sending audio for that split second making it choppy.
