Aliph Jawbone Icon Headset Review

E-mail Print PDF

jawbone-icon-2

The importance of having a hands free headset is sometimes not understood until you are without one. I have used a Bluetooth headset since before there were mandatory laws requiring drivers to use hands free headset at all times. I recently had a situation where a Bluetooth headset I owned stopped working and I went three days without one, and it was the worst three days I have had in recent memory. I live through my phone, my emails, texts, phone calls, internet, everything I do I do through my phone, so not having a Bluetooth headset was a real pain. I never really understood the purpose of buying a more expensive Bluetooth headset, so I always purchased low or midgrade headsets just to get me by. A friend recommended that I take a look at the Aliph Jawbone Icon Bluetooth headset so I decided to take a gander. The Icon is the fourth version of the Aliph Jawbone line of Bluetooth headsets, with the Original, 2, and Prime versions preceding the Icon. When I saw the $100 price tag I said no way, until I thought about how it was hard for me to hear over my exhaust while I was driving, or the fact that people had problems hearing me the majority of the time while I was using my old Bluetooth headset (which shall remain nameless). So I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the headset, with insurance this time, and I was so impressed I decided to write a review. Read more for the full review.

Console Gaming Will Never Die

E-mail Print PDF

video-games-2

Home video games consoles have been a staple in the gaming industry for close to forty years. The first home console was the Magnavox Odyssey. The Odyssey was designed by Mr. Ralph Baer, who actually had a working version of the console up and running in 1968 but it was not completed and released until 1972. The Odyssey was alive before the original Atari Pong but the Atari system gained more notoriety mainly because Magnavox wasn't sure how to market the system. Atari did however, so the Atari Pong, which was released in 1975, is the first home console that most people remember. From that point in gaming history you had several versions of both the Odyssey and Atari systems along with systems made by Coleco and others between 1972 and 1982. Atari was the most popular during that time but in 1983 things changed and a new company emerged with a home console that captured gamer's hearts. That console was the Nintendo Entertainment System, or Famicom as it was known in Japan. The NES brought attention back to a dying console business and was quickly followed up by Sega, Atari, NEC, and SNK systems between 1986 and 1993. Panasonic even took a jab at it with the 3DO in 1993, but its $700 price tag didn't help its cause. From 1994 to the present day most gamers will already be aware of the consoles that have been released, and those consoles have been made primarily by Sega, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft, although Sega left the console race after the Dreamcast.

Generation X Episode 41: Let's Pay To Play Demo's

E-mail Print PDF

Generation X

In this episode, we get real political and tilt our hats to the fallen people in the plane crash with the President of Poland, all the while insulting the entire Polish Government. We prove the fanboys wrong and show that the XBOX 360 has exclusives, especially now that Splinter Cell: Conviction is out, and then ofcourse we heavily criticize the game right after. Demos becomes a topic of discussion when referring to the comments from one of Crytek's developers. And speaking about developers, we manage to bash Crytek for their slandering statements against other developers and for some reason David Jaffe gets slammed by Louie. We also give a quick thought of what we think Gran Turismo 5's real release date will be. Konrad blesses us with another Gamer Tunes. Stay tuned.
