The Gamer Access

I'm going to try a new weekly thing on the site. How long I do it will be up to you. It's an idea I got from watching a few of you tweet during E3, so I hope you think it's worthwhile.

Basically, I'm going to ask a question of you every week. It will focus on gaming and it will hopefully be something many of us are thinking about. Please read more to see a video of my first question. Your participation would be awesome.

If you have been keeping up with TheGamerAccess.com at all over the past couple days, you would have seen the article we posted titled, "Could PlayStation Plus=PS+Steam?". After posting this article, PS3 fans all over the net gave their views on this possibility and a majority of the commenters felt it would be a huge step for the PlayStation brand. Well, after reading the plethora of comments it received on TheGamerAccess.com and N4G, I now have an official response from Sony themselves. Read more to find out what they had to say.

Am I the only one stalking local stores to see when the new Xbox 360 console will be available? Should be sometime this week. Well, I noticed a GameStop trade-in offer.

I stand to get $130 toward the new console. It's not much. But it saves me money, I guess. I could get another $100 if I decide to trade-in the console that Matt (Diz) sent me months ago when the RROD struck. Read more to see the breakdown from GameStop.

Just a couple days ago TheGamerAccess.com broke news about PS3 firmware 3.40 and the possibility of it including cross-game chat. This all began when I heard and saw that foreign PlayStation sites were advertising cross-game chat on their websites by saying:

"Cross-game Voice Chat: invite your friends to chat online no matter what game you're all playing, even if they aren't members of PlayStation Plus."

There has been loads of anticipation since, so I decided to dig deep and hit up Sony themselves. Read more to find out what they had to say.

It's hard to believe that GT5 is coming out this year on November 2nd, but if that isn't enough Sony announced that along side the regular $59.99 version there will be a $99.99 collectors edition.

I'm going to be honest here people. This podcast turned into a very sad thing when I realized that Matt didn't have much fun during his second day on the job at E3. It's a pure coincidence that he spent all of his time with Sony.

This week at E3 we were met with a megaton announcement from Valve's one and only Gabe Newell. While everyone was jumping up and down at the news that Portal 2 would indeed be coming to PlayStation 3 owners, it was also revealed that it would be the best version on the consoles and will support Steamworks.
